OtterDNS

Give us the zone and primary server. We will keep a transferred copy online as your other nameserver.

What it does

OtterDNS is a hosted secondary nameserver for operators who already run a primary authoritative server. We retrieve a read-only copy over AXFR/IXFR, serve it publicly through ns.otterdns.net, accept DNS NOTIFY, and show transfer and delegation health. We do not edit your records, sign your zone, or act as a primary — your primary remains authoritative and stays in your control.

Setup

1. Create an account and add a zone.
2. Enter your primary server, or leave it blank and we derive it from your public SOA MNAME.
3. Allow AXFR/IXFR from our published transfer address.
4. Add ns.otterdns.net to your zone's NS set and registrar delegation.
5. Optional: send DNS NOTIFY to our transfer address for instant updates.

Plans

No published query quota on either plan and no customer traffic analytics. Availability is best effort with no SLA — your primary remains another authoritative nameserver regardless.
